Personal Statement

I believe that we are all created for a purpose and that we are shaped through the different events we experience through the course of our lives. I desire to help you feel empowered to become the person you want to be. Through counseling, I want to create space for you, so you become aware of your behavioral patterns, emotions, and thoughts. Then, equip you with the right tools to break the unhealthy patterns that get in the way of what you want for your life. I address a number of concerns that include (but are not limited to) depression, anxiety, grief, and trauma. I also work with individuals and couples who are struggling in their relationships.

One of my passions is working with women who have experienced infidelity in their relationships. If you have suffered betrayal of any kind, it is my desire to walk with you on your journey towards healing, rebuilding trust in yourself, and becoming whole again. Betrayal trauma can be caused by several events such as having multiple partners, emotional affairs, and compulsive porn use. Moreover, the lying and gaslighting that accompanies such behaviors is also traumatizing. Throughout your time with me, my goal is to help you find stability and safety again. I want you to feel validated and normalize your emotional responses. Some emotions like anger are hard to understand; part of our work will include giving you a chance to make sense of your anger if you are experiencing it. I will be with you in your pain and walk with you every step of the way. As your therapist, I will help you see and understand yourself better and encourage you to make the necessary changes that you desire for yourself.

Approach to Therapy

I believe in each person’s uniqueness and individuality; each of my clients is like no other. Therefore, I use a number of approaches when working with a client’s concerns based on their needs and narrative. I will listen to your story and help you identify thoughts and access emotions. From an attachment lens, we can work towards identifying the relational needs that have gone unmet for you. I will assist you in seeing the patterns that may need change and give you the tools to change them. I continuously work towards more training; currently, I am working on the EMDR certification (trauma-related) and working towards a certification in Sex Addiction and Betrayal Trauma.

Treatment Modalities and Theoretical Orientations

I typically take an eclectic approach to therapy, incorporating a variety of approaches to create an individualized treatment plan that best suits each client’s needs. Theoretical orientations that I frequently go to:
