Personal Statement

Ever since I was young, I wondered why I was the way I am. Sometimes these questions came from a place of curiosity, but other times from comparison, frustration, or sadness. In my own life, I have found that working through the question of “who am I?” can be deeply healing, rewarding, and freeing. This process of identifying patterns, recognizing emotions, and finding greater self-acceptance is something I’m deeply passionate about when working with clients. I also recognize that growth and change are unique and personal to each individual, and thus I find it is important to try different techniques and strategies depending on what works for each one of my clients.

I love doing therapy work and walking alongside my clients as they achieve their therapeutic goals. I strive to create a therapeutic environment that is always safe and encouraging and am always open to feedback from my clients. I am particularly passionate about working with couples. I am always excited at the opportunity to work with couples to build healthier relationships through improved communication and deeper understanding of one another.

In my personal life, I enjoy drawing animals and people, watching documentaries of all kinds, and gaming. I also love cheesecake, chocolate and green tea and am always looking for new teas to try.

Approach to Therapy

I believe therapy is best when it is collaborative, respectful, and oriented towards meeting my client’s goals in the therapy room. The client is the expert of their own life. In the therapy space, my goal is to work together to create a safe space for reflection on the past and change towards the future. Every person’s story is deeply valuable and it is an honor to learn about the lives of each of my clients. Throughout our sessions, I encourage my clients to recognize patterns in their own life, challenge areas of stuck-ness, and embrace themselves as they are. In creating a cohesive identity and story of self, I believe it is possible to create natural movement towards positive change in day-to-day life and healthier relationships with others.

I am also passionate about working with couples. In couples work, my goal is to understand the whole story of the relationship. I want to know the strengths and the weaknesses in a partnership, the timeline, and the goals. With this context, I work to collaboratively create a space of breakthrough and curiosity between partners. I enjoy working with communication skills, conflict, betrayal, personality differences, parenting conflicts, and other areas of conflict between couples. There are two sides to every story and my goal in couples work is to maintain a space where both partners feel heard and able to mutually meet relationship goals.
