Personal Statement

I believe that life is full of ups and downs. Sometimes the challenges of life are manageable and sometimes they knock us off our feet. We all need the help of others, to lift us up and walk through life with us. As a Counselor, I see myself as someone who can come alongside you as you navigate the complexities of life. I am passionate about helping people when they are stuck, lost, or hurting. I consider it a joy and a privilege to step into the mess of life and help you find meaning, healing, direction, and the strength to face the challenges life throws your way. I believe there is always a way forward, a reason to hope, and steps that can be taken today to enhance your life.

In my free time I enjoy reading classic and modern Sci-Fi, playing video games with my nephews, and talking with anyone about anything over a good cup of coffee. I also love being involved in my local church community, using my musical gifts to serve, and growing together with my wife in the context of a small group.

Approach to Therapy

I am committed to developing a relationship of trust and collaboration with everyone I help. As a therapist, I’m always trying to work myself out of a job. My goal is to help you to get to the point where you don’t need me anymore. However, some things can’t be rushed and do take time. Because you are the expert on you, I am committed to listen, ask questions, and respect the pace that you want to take in counseling.

I don’t believe there is any one counseling strategy that fixes all issues. Nor do I believe that simply talking about your problems makes them go away. I take an eclectic approach to counseling, which allows me to utilize the most effective counseling theories and strategies to meet your needs.
